Of those we've lost... but will never forget

At Shadey Lane Corgis, our dogs are truly family. Each one leaves an imprint on our hearts, and losing one is a profound and deeply personal loss—one that is felt not just in our home, but in our souls.

While we never want to say goodbye, we understand that loss is an inevitable part of loving so deeply. We choose to honor the lives and memories of our dogs with gratitude, respect, and remembrance, carrying their legacy forward as a permanent part of who we are.

Zeke was the first dog we lost here at Shadey Lane Corgis, and his absence is felt every day. He was the sweetest, goofiest boy—one who had my heart completely and effortlessly wrapped around his paw.

Born and raised here on the farm, Zeke was my constant companion and the very definition of a sidekick. He brought joy wherever he went and had a rare gift for winning over everyone he met, instantly and without effort.

On December 13th, 2024, Zeke tragically ingested an acorn. In the early hours of December 14th, he passed peacefully in my arms due to severe liver and kidney damage caused by tannins found within the acorn.

Zeke’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, purpose, and joy. He will always hold a special place in our hearts and remain an irreplaceable part of the foundation and story of Shadey Lane Corgis.
