We value our customers and are committed to providing ongoing support and guidance to our puppy owners. We provide advice on training, nutrition, and any other questions or concerns you may have. We are always available to help.
At Shadey Lane Corgis Breeder, we believe in breeding healthy, happy puppies that make great pets. We carefully select our breeding dogs and perform health checks to ensure the best possible outcome for our litters. Our puppies are socialized and raised with love to prepare them for their new homes.
The health of our dogs and puppies is something I take very seriously so all our breeding stock is tested through Embark or Gensol ( some are tested through both). Due to this testing we are able to know if our dogs have or carry DM, EIC, VWD1 and a slew of other diseases. This helps me insure that your new puppy isn’t at risk for any of the common diseases for corgis.
After you take your new puppy home, I am always available if you have any question or concern. Infact I LOVE to keep in touch with my puppy parents and love all the updates!
Another important factor in our program is proper and safe socializatio. This starts at day one in my home. Our pups are handled daily and loved on. Once they start getting a bit bigger and can see and hear we start introducing our adult dogs to the pups, this includes a Saint Bernard who is obcessed with snuggling our sweet babes. Once we’ve had our first set of shots we get to go play! This means the pups are introduced to the outside world. They’ll get to meet a couple other approved dogs and see cows and the neighbors horses. We do not train to herd! While corgis are a herding breed and do have the instinct to herd I personally do not train them in herding. At this time we also start to get to meet new people out side of my home. I take the pups to stores that allow them as well as nursing homes. While we are out and about in town, the pups are NEVER allowed to touch the ground.
I’m extremely proud to be a GoodDog apprived breeder. In order to be approved through GoodDog, I went through a application process and all of the dogs embark and gensol results are viewable on my GoodDog breeder page.
I love to spoil the pups and new parents so our go home bags are a bit extra! I send the puppy home with everything they need. Our bags are themed to the litter if possible. This includes an unopened bag of their puppies food, collapsible bowl, leash, collar, custom bandana, custom blanket, treats toys and whatever else I happen to find. I don’t only include stuff for the pups but our parents as well!
What? You haven’t heard of END and ESI trainin?
Well let me tell you it is by far the most important aspect of my breeding program.
The ENS program was developed by the US Military as part of their “bio-sensor” or “super puppy” program.
Dogs are what’s known as an “altricial” species, meaning they are born in a state where they are born helpless. Puppies can’t see, hear, maintain their own body temperature, or even eliminate on their own at birth. They can slowly crawl very short distances, maybe a few feet at a time. Their helpless state continues until they are about 2-3 weeks old, depending on breed.
At about 2-3 weeks old, puppies start to be able to hear, see, and move around a little better as well as to eliminate on their own.
But it’s the period between birth and this beginning of self-sufficiency that is critical for ENS.
Early Neurological Stimulation is a method of stimulating the nervous systems of the puppies during this time period. It’s based on the principle of eustress. Distress is bad stress—stress that is too overwhelming or lasts too long to be healthy. Eustress is good stress. It’s the same kind of stress that causes you to get stronger when you work out. Working out is stressful on the body, but builds the body, while distress is harmful to the body and causes damage of one kind or another.
ENS provides just the right amount of eustress on the nervous system to stimulate development. It’s like a gym workout for the puppies’ nervous system.
We have all heard stories of dogs who are aggressive around new people, scared of new places, or just scared of everything in general! ENS can help prevent these issues and create a more fulfilling relationship for dogs and owners.
ENS is done while the puppies are in their early developmental stage. The stage that follows early development is their socialization period, which is another critical stage to ensure puppies grow and adapt as optimally as possible. ENS helps prepares them for their socialization period, when they learn how to interact with and trust humans, other dogs, and other species. Using ENS, we ensure your puppies have the emotional development to handle and meet the challenges of socialization.
